“Consider what you would most like to do IF YOU DARED. Now do it through your characters.”

Check out my friend’s blog, Mary’s Musings. I literally weeped with laughter. Her last two postings are priceless.

Congrats to my friend, Dennie, for her sales to Samhain Publishing! Way to go, Dennie!

Look for both Dennie’s and Mik’s books coming out this year. I am soooo proud of them!

Today was my RWA chapter’s monthly meeting and, as president, I always have butterflies as I plan what we have to and want to accomplish for that particular meeting.

In fact, I literally shake with nervousness when I drive into the parking lot. As I enter the room and see all my writer friends, I am attacked by doubts and insecurities that I can be the leader that they so deserve.

But not long after being with them, I relax and, although, I may not be as eloquent as I would like to be, I leave there with such a feeling of encouragment, inspiration, and warmth, that I feel very honored to have been elected president another year to serve them.

Here’s to the greatest little RWA chapter in the organization. Thanks, guys!

Time to get back to work. This last week I find myself moving in fast forward to get everything done, but feel pretty good about it. Working more at my regular job but I know things will slow down soon so I am making the most out of it now. College tuition makes a great motivator.

Yesterday I worked some on my lunch break on my paranormal series. I would love to be able to do like Sherrilyn Kenyon does and have the whole series mapped out, but right now only have the first one plotted out and the second roughly planned. My children’s inspirational series is giving me a little trouble now as I cannot decide exactly what age group to target. I am leaning toward the 8 – 12 year olds now so need to do a little more research to make my decision.

Our RWA chapter’s annual manuscript contest is picking up speed with the January 15th deadline right around the corner. And yes, as Brenda has reminded me, that is a holiday, but we will accept anything within a reasonable time frame. It is a great contest and last year, our winner got a publishing contract out of it. Check it out and see the great line up with have for final judges. Who knows, there may be another publishing contract within someone’s sights again this year!

Off to work!

So…

Happy Birthday to my dh! You changed my world by giving me love and laughter and happiness from the day I married you!

And Happy Birthday to Elvis! You changed the world with your music!

This is what my two sons did to earn the Neighborhood decorating award for the Breathtaking Decor Category.

We received a letter in the mail asking us to appear this month at our City’s general meeting to be presented with an award. Hope the boys get to go as I think they would enjoy being rewarded for all their hard work.

Haven’t seen the electric bill yet, though.

The keys to my heart are the friends who are true friends and always there for you.

The Keys to Your Heart

You are attracted to those who have a split personality – cold as ice on the outside but hot as fire in the heart.

In love, you feel the most alive when your lover is creative and never lets you feel bored.

You’d like to your lover to think you are stylish and alluring.

You would be forced to break up with someone who was insecure and in constant need of reassurance.

Your ideal relationship is lasting. You want a relationship that looks to the future… one you can grow with.

Your risk of cheating is zero. You care about society and morality. You would never break a commitment.

You think of marriage as something precious. You’ll treasure marriage and treat it as sacred.

In this moment, you think of love as something you can get or discard anytime. You’re feeling self centered.

Okay, my pity party is official over. After allowing myself a day of poor pitiful me, I gave myself a swift kick in the pants!

Life is tough, life is is not fair, life is not always going to go the way I want it!

So, now I am going to put my big girl pants on and get with the program.

It helped knowing I had friends that care about me even when I am not at my best.

And a whole lot of chocolate didn’t hurt either.

Warning! Not my usual upbeat post!

I am lost! 🙁

The girl that always has a plan. A goal. A list. A list of goals.

And it makes me so sad. I love new beginnings and a fresh start, organization and planning, but right now I am…just lost.

I know I talked yesterday about motivation and inspiration, but after a whole day of reflecting and thinking, I couldn’t come up with anything. I don’t know if it has anything to do with there is so much I want to accomplish and not sure how to fit it all in or if I am suffering from the doldrums.

I feel as if time is running out. I am not that old and many people older than I are getting much more accomplished, but I feel that I am always taking three steps backwards to one step forward.

The even sadder thing is that all my life I have been such an upbeat, polyanna type person and I feel I have lost even that.

I can pinpoint the beginning of it – when we discovered my husband had cancer and, although, he is now on his way to being cancer-free, so many negative things followed that rocked my world off balance at that point and I haven’t been able to fix it.

I am not where I want to be in my life and not sure how to get back on track.

Sorry this is such a downer post. I figured if I put it in writing then maybe I can exorcise that demon and get back on track. Maybe I should pay attention to the Quote of the Day, LOL!

Happy New Year!

Woke up this morning and watched one of my favorite inspirational movies. Everytime I see this movie, I am moved to tears and inspired by the message. ‘Rudy’ is a true story about a young man, Daniel E. Ruettiger, whose dream was to attend Notre Dame and play football for the Fighting Irish. This 5’6″ 165 lb young man had everything against him and yet he did what it took for his dream to come true. If you haven’t seen it, get a copy to watch and be ready to be motivated, inspired, and truly moved to tears. It is a great feel good movie.

Had a great time celebrating last night. Spent the evening with J & M, wonderful friends of ours, at Sundance Square in downtown. I had never been there at night and enjoyed the sights, sounds, and, would you believe, free parking!

This morning it felt so good to sleep in late. I love this time when all the holidays are done, the decorations are packed up and the house is clean. It feels like a clean breath of fresh air!

Of course, we had to cook our traditional New Year’s Day meal. Baked Pork tenderloin, black eye peas, and cabbage. Those are supposed to be for health, luck, and money though I forget what is for which. And for dessert I made a new recipe I dubbed, Oreo Cookie Delight. I have posted the recipe below.

Have been pondering and thinking about my New Year’s Resolutions, but haven’t come up with what I am satisfied with. So I did the blog thing to see what my resolutions should be:

Not Oysters! Been there, done that, have that barf rag!

Your New Year’s Resolutions

1) Get a pet monkey

2) Eat more oysters

3) Travel to Costa Rica

4) Study magic

5) Get in shape with Dance Dance Revolution
