‘Better a witty fool than a foolish wit.’
~Feste: Twelfth Night

I got my paycheck today for that one day, or rather half day, of substitue teaching.

$23.09!

PLEASE tell me they pay teachers A LOT more than that!!

Snuck away for lunch with hubby today and one of his agents. Had the chicken parmigian sandwich with greek salad. Italian-Greek combo – not bad at all. Try it sometime.

Don’t know why, but lately the whole family has been on a fresh fruit kick. I must’ve made three HUGE fresh fruit salads this week and doesn’t stay in the fridge for long. And it’s not even the hot summer yet. Tonight we fixed another. DH likes a lot of cherries in it – yuck!

My third son is bound and determined to go into the Marines. He’s been talking about it for several months and his plan was to leave in January 2007. He has been working out at the gym, running, and buffing up. But he is with them tonight taking tests and physicals and won’t be home until tomorrow. If I was a betting woman, which I am, I bet they talk him into leaving before January. There comes a time when all you can do is pray they make the right decisions. He is adamant about doing this on his own and asks that we won’t try to discourage him and to be happy for him, but it is hard. Don’t want him making a mistake. He has been talking to his older brother who served in the Navy, so I hope he listens to him and knows what to do.

If that is truly what God wants him to do, then that is what he needs to do. But as a mom, I can’t help but worry.

I do know if he goes and when he graduates from boot camp, we will be there to see him. As a mom, I also can’t help but be proud.

But we will see. Never know.

Here’s a blonde joke for you. I am a blonde also, so if I can handle it, so can you!

**The plane is on its way to Houston when a blonde in economy class gets up and moves to the first class section and sits down.

The flight attendant watches her do this and asks to see her ticket. She then tells the blonde that she paid for economy class and that she will have to sit in the back.

The blonde replies, “I’m blonde, I’m beautiful, I’m going to Houston and I’m staying right here.”

The flight attendant goes into the cockpit and tells the pilot and co-pilot that there is a blonde sitting in first class that belongs in economy and won’t move back to her seat.

The co-pilot goes back to the blonde and tries to explain that because she only paid for economy, she will have to leave and return to her seat.

The blonde replies, “I’m blonde, I’m beautiful, I’m going to Houston and I’m staying right here.”

The co-pilot tells the pilot that he probably should have the police waiting to arrest this blonde woman who won’t listen to reason.

The pilot says, “You say she is blonde? I’ll handle this. I’m married to a blonde. I speak blonde.”

He goes back to the blonde and whispers in her ear. She stands and says, “I’m sorry” and goes back to her seat in economy.

The flight attendant and co-pilot are amazed and asked him what he said to her to make her move without any fuss.

The pilot replied, “I told her first class wasn’t going to Houston.”

‘Take a chance! All life is a chance. The man who goes the furthest is generally the one who is willing to do and dare.’
~Dale Carnegie

Hard to believe it has been about ten days since I blogged last! Having blogging withdrawls!

But we had our chapter conference luncheon last weekend and it was a flurry of airport runs, entertaining the guests, ferrying them around, the night before dinner, and the aftermath of wrapping up a contest and conference.

Kerrelyn Sparks and Colleen Thompson were the nicest, sweetest people I have met. Have read Kerrelyn’s How to Marry a Millionaire Vampire and now working on reading her sequel Vamps in the City. Both are great and her touches of humor in them are priceless. Alicia Rasley was a fantastic workshop leader. And Editor, Allison Lyons from Harlequin, was absolutely one of the most fun and down to earth person I have ever met!

When I picked Allison up from the airport, we had just enough time to go see some sights before getting ready for the Friday night get together. I decided to run down to the Stockyards as that is part of our city’s history and thought she might be interested in seeing it. And she was.

I turned left instead of right and ended up in a not so good part of town with blocks and blocks of used car dealerships. I mentioned that I didn’t remember those being on the way and she said she thought we had ended up in New Jersey, her old hometown! We laughed and laughed. After three phone calls to DH, we ended up where we were supposed to be and she enjoyed walking around and getting the ‘flavor’ of the place (her words). But, unfortuately, all the cowboys had gone and the cattle drive was over.

Saturday night, we took her back to the stockyards and to the White Elephant Saloon to get a taste of a smoky country and western bar. Not sure she enjoyed the music but Cece, Dennie, and I did.

Now that I am just about getting caught up and the finishing touches on the contest, I am anxious to get back to writing!

Lost was great tonight! Invasion is good also. It’s like the writers of the shows are catching the hint and getting on the ball.

‘Do the right thing and you will have the power.’

Wishing and hoping, and thinking and praying…

Getting ready for the awards luncheon this weekend. Brenda and I worked on the raffle baskets all day today and we’re pleased on how pretty they turned out. Brenda did a fabulous job getting the stuffin’ for the baskets. I am going to definitely have to buy some raffle tickets. I KNOW what’s in them.

The certificates for the winners are being printed as we speak. Thanks, Bev! Geri has the Friday night meal all worked out and the caterer ready for Saturday. This caterer really rocks. None of that dried chicken and undercooked broccoli junk. Some really tasty food. Can’t remember the menu at the present moment but, trust me, some good food.

Dennie has the published side all wrapped up and ready. Our guest speakers will all being arriving Friday and we are looking forward to meeting them and showing them a real welcome.

Of course, my nerves are getting a little shaky. It always does when we get down to the wire. But it always turns out just fine.

I hate that most of my writer friends are all in a blue funk right now. No one I know – me included – is able to get anything down on paper. Everyone is complaining about not getting anything done. Not sure if it is spring fever or what. I know the allergies are bad right now. Hopefully, this weekend will get everyone feeling more creative and less tired.

Sorry I am rambling and not saying anything worthwhile. Boring blog today.

Oh, and Cece! I forgot about the tag! I WILL get to it! I promise.
