‘I always wanted to be somebody, but now I realize I should have been more specific.’
~Lily Tomlin

…hit today in the DFW area.

It was so nice to wake this morning knowing that I didn’t have to get up early on this work day. Made me feel so naughty. So I laid in bed all comfy and toasty ~ alone as DH had fallen asleep in his Lazy Boy while watching a movie last night ~ and listened to the sleet hit the windows. There is something so good about that.

I finally forced myself up around 6:00 and headed downstairs to find much needed coffee. Folgers French Vanilla Instant Coffee. Not as good as my tall, nonfat, 7 pump sugar-free vanilla latte from Starbucks, but works good enough to get me up and running.

Note: Folgers is the only brand that tastes good.

I stole DH’s lazy boy and while wrapped in a blanket, I sat by the fireplace thinking.

I realized that I enjoyed that moment as much as I enjoyed Tuesday’s wonderful spring-like weather. The sun dazzled, the sky a blue to die for and the breeze was just cool and dry enough to make you believe this is what the weather is like in heaven. I had to go outside quite a few times and it was all I could do not to twirl around and around like a kid. Not a good idea. I could just fathom one of my big bosses looking out the window and seeing me do this, :rotfl:

I have no clue why I have been feeling like this. Since Thanksgiving. Like the world is just right ~ just as it should be. Everything is good and all is well.

Now, while sitting here listening to my favorite music, I watch the wind outside rush around with its bone numbing cold and snowflakes whirling about, its all I can do not to run out there and twirl like an idiot.

And I can’t stop grinning.

I must be nuts.

‘A man is not old until regrets take the place of dreams’
~John Barrymore

I can’t believe my four day holiday will be over soon! I have enjoyed being off and it could easily become a habit!

Thanksgiving dinner at ‘da Bears’ was, as usual, wonderful and a blast. We ate and drank and visited and played games and talked and laughed. Discovered a new game called Taboo that had us falling on the floor laughing. I kept getting ‘buzzed’ with the buzzer (by my own son no less who happened to be on my team) because I’d forget and would answer for the other team. :dunno:

Braved the malls Friday and made a dent in my Christmas shopping. A small dent. But got the main item I was getting for the boys. An Apple 4 GB iPod! In silver. Best Buy had the Best Deal. Since Apple won’t let anyone discount the items, they gave away $25.00 gift cards with each iPod. So that was like getting them $25.00 off each as I was able to use the gift cards for other Christmas items!

I so love a deal!

Also shopped my favorite place, Chico’s for women, but we won’t go there…!

Found the docking stations with speakers for the iPods at one place that was regularly $100.00 on sale for $39.99. Only until 12:00 noon. (“But, lady, I WAS in line BEFORE noon!”) Sheesh! But she gave it to me anyway.

{{Sigh}} today is the last day off and so much still to do. Can’t decide whether to work on my WIP (which I should do) or go Christmas shopping (which I want to do) or work around the house (which I NEED to do).

‘Thanksgiving dinners take eighteen hours to prepare. They are consumed in twelve minutes. Half-times take twelve minutes. This is not coincidence..’
~Erma Bombeck

‘What we’re really talking about is a wonderful day set aside on the fourth Thursday of November when no one diets. I mean, why else would they call it Thanksgiving?
.’

~Erma Bombeck

Today we will celebrate Thanksgiving. It’s the one day of the year that we actually ponder and express the blessings we have in our lives. Mine will include the obvious – family, friends, job, health…

One thing that I am thankful for is the ability to laugh. At myself, at you, at my life in general. I tend to gravitate toward people that make me laugh. Because I am not quick with those one-liners or funny stories, I love to be around people that can and do. A wonderful friend told me the other day that I do come out with a good one every now and then and it is usually subtle and dry and that is funny also. I will cherish that forever.

If you want to read funny read Daisy Dexter Dobbs! She is one funny lady!

Or try Dixie Cash’s books. I am on the third of the Debbie Sue Overstreet series and in each book there are some places I laugh so hard I lose my breath.

Invited again this year to the ‘Bears’, we will gorge on Turkey and dressing, sweet potatoes, green beans, glazed carrots, cranberry sauce, pumpkin bread, chocolate eclair cake, brownies, ice box delight, and various other culinary delights. Mrs. Bear also brings out the waterford crystal, has place settings with place cards, and sets a beautiful table including color coordinated decorations. Their wonderful family from up north is visiting and we play games (which I always lose) and drink cokes and wine (which I do) and laugh (a lot).

They are another reason to be thankful for.

Tomorrow I hope to get up uber early and brave the crowds to see if I can get any good deals and start the working on my Christmas list. :page: I wish I could be like some people I know and already be through with my shopping. 🙁

The sons still at home have already giving me their list so Santa better get busy!

Wishing each one of you a happy and healthy holiday!

‘Love is life. And if you miss love, you miss life.’
~Leo Buscaglia

…what a week!

Weather went from warm to cold to warm to cool. Not a good thing.

DTS’s (codes for problems) went from 600 to 288. That’s a good thing.

Started walking on the treadmill and managed to get three days in a row done. Good thing.

Worked on my WIP and got a page done. That’s a good thing.

Stuck on plot. Not a good thing.

Went to Walmart, Sam’s Club, and Kroger for Thanksgiving groceries so I don’t have do it after work this week. Everything stocked and ready to go. That’s a good thing.

Spent over $300.00 and we are not even eating at home for Thanksgiving! Not a good thing.

Bought and read JD Robb’s new book ~ Born in Death. It rocked! That was a good thing.

Son made me listen to Trans Siberian Orchestra’s new ‘Christmas Canon Rock’. Great song! To listen to it, click on the picture below.

Now it is stuck in my head and I am dying to see them perform in Dallas, Dec 16. Not a good thing.

How has your week gone?

‘Ideas are the easy part.’
~Paul Raymond Martin

Part of my new position is working on a software program to implement in the near future.

Well, last week, on a conference call, the manufacturer mentioned that we needed to take 600 DTS’s.

Let me explain.

Those are codes to fix problems.

You are always going to have a few here and there and it is usually an ongoing problem as you progress.

But 600?????

Hellooooo!!!!!! Even I can read between the lines.

And now we have to wade through each. and. every. one. to determine if and how they effect us.

Hence the punky mood of the day – BORED!

‘First you jump off a cliff and then you build your wings on the way down.’
~Ray Bradbury

Totally crashed today! Couldn’t do one more thing. I have been burning the candle at both ends for so long that I decided I needed ONE day of doing nothing. And guess what?

The world. did. not. come. to. an. end.

Imagine my surprise.

While lying on the sofa cuddled with my dog, wrapped in my favorite blanket, I started thinking long and deep about things to come.

My term as President to my local RWA chapter has come to an end. I presided over my last meeting Saturday and, although, I have enjoyed my two years at the helm, I am glad to pass the torch to someone else. I have accomplished about 98% of what I wanted to and learned so much that I have and will continue to carry over to my new job and my life in general. And I thank the Rosebuds for all their support. It has been fun. But now time to move on and concentrate on other things in my life.

Soon 2006 will come to an end. Is it just me or are the years flying by like a whirlwind? Have I accomplished what I wanted to in other areas of my life? Not by a long shot. I have not lost all that weight I wanted to. I have not finished one book I have started. My house is even more disorganized now that I work full time.

My name is Sandy and I am a disappointment.

Two people have told me two different stories about how they were more productive when they were working full time. They kept lists and goals and followed those lists and goals. I used to be so much more organized and it’s time to get back on the bandwagon.

I don’t want to wait until the new year to start making my lists and goals. I want to get started right now and see how much I can accomplished BEFORE the end of year. So, this week, I will put together my plan and put it into effect. And to achieve my goals, I will set a daily plan and a weekly plan. You just watch. Root for me!!

Had so much fun last night. Went to a friend’s housewarming and met her family and it was a riot. Her sys-in-law is a hoot and my dh absolutley fell in love with her. His remark was that we need more people in this world like her. Her hubby says that it is really something when she gets together with her sisters as they are all alike. Would I love to be a fly on the wall at those family gatherings! :hiding: My cheeks are still sore from laughing so much.

Have a good Monday!

********
Heard your wife left you
How upset you must be
But don’t fret about it
She moved in with me.
********

I’ve always wanted to have
Someone to hold
Someone to love
But now that I ‘ve met you
I’ve changed my mind.

********

I must admit you brought Religion into my life
I never believed in Hell until I met you.

********

As the days go by I think of how lucky I am
That you’re not here to ruin it for me.

********

Congratulations on your promotion!
Before you go…
Would you like to take this knife out of my back?
You’ll probably need it again.

********

Happy Birthday!
You look great for your age.
Almost lifelike!

********

When we were together,
you said you’d die for me.
Now that we’ve broken up
I think it’s time you kept your promise.

********

We’ve been friends for such a long time,
what do you say we stop?

********

Congratulations on your bundle of joy
Did you ever find out who the father is?

********

Your friends and I wanted to do
something special for your birthday.
So we’re having you put to sleep.

********

Your daughter’s a hooker
And it spoiled your day.
Look on the bright side
It’s really good pay!

‘Dreams are yesterday’s answers to tomorrow’s questions!’
~Edgar Cayce

…purchased something that you were sure was a good investment?

Years ago, I decided I needed to start investing. Something that would make me a pretty good return and make me wealthy beyond my wildest dreams.

Become debt free. Help me retire. Buy the cabin in the mountains and the cabana by the ocean. Travel the world. Pay for the kids college. Support me in the manner of which I wanted to become accustomed to.

So I set out and did my research.

First, I mentioned this to my once-a-week-front-porch-happy-hour girlfriends. We would meet at a different home each Wednesday and share tidbits of our wisdom, our lives, our interests, and our margaritas. After discussing this with the ‘experts’, I came to the decision of what I needed to focus on.

A very hot and very sought after commodity.

I searched the internet. Consulted expert retail and wholesale suppliers. Bought and read books on the matter. There were even several publications that gave detailed information on what each item was worth on the market. Most were hard, if not impossible, to acquire. But that was no deterrent.

I was informed. I was sure. I was ready.

I started my acquisitons. Visited every establishment that carried or would possibly carry what I wanted. Memorized shipping schedules and stood in long lines to purchase it when it hit the shelves. Won bidding wars on Ebay.

I became an expert as I watched my portfolio grow. This is an ‘investment’ I claimed to my family as they shook their heads in amazement. One day, I will be the one laughing.

My ship would come in.

Well, I found my investment(s) in the attic the other day. Here’s just a few to share with you. Read the rest of this entry »

‘When angry… count to four. When very angry…swear!’
~Mark Twain

SPAMMERS!

For two nights this week I have didn’t get home until late. Very late. From work. (Get your mind out of the gutter!!! 😎 ) And have come home to 175 spam emails.

Within. My. Blog.

The kind you have to go to each comment and delete. :wall:

Not to mention my other email address.

Michelle was kind enough last week to do something (far be it for me to understand) on my blog to help keep this from happening, but I believe my address had already been sold to the devil.

A lot of it is in a foreign language. No comprende, you idiot…

Wanting me to have a bigger p*nis or larger br*asts. Don’t have a p*nis and my br*asts are just fine. ‘Course if the word ‘perkier’ were mentioned…

Offering me the option to buy stock. No thanks. I will wait and see how the stock in the obscure company in that remote village does for YOU first…

P*rn*graphy. Ewwww ! I am a nurse. I have seen all kinds of naked bodies. Again…Ewww! And shame on you!

Mr. ‘Whomever’ died and left two million dollars in the bank with no heirs. Email me and I’ll see that you get the money. Yeah, right! After sending YOU money first! Do people really ever fall for this?

Now, I am not trying to compete with Bailey’s Friday Spamarama as she is the Queen of the Spamarama. She does such a funny job with them! But I am just so tired of having to clean my emails…my blog… and now… my language.

A pox on you! And when you finally die and go to hell, I hope you are forced to sit with NO computer and have to hand write in brimstone an ‘I’m sorry’ note to each and every email address you ever sent a spam to. That’ll take you an eternity or two!

Gaw! Have to run so I can clean out the 65 spams I got overnight!

I need coffee…:lovecoffee:
