According to Dr. Phil…

“The way to achieve inner peace is to finish all the things you have started and have never finished.”

So, I looked around my house to see all the things I started and hadn’t finished, and before leaving the house this morning, I finished…

…off a bottle of Merlot, a bottle of white zinfandel, a bottle of Bailey’s Irish Cream, a bottle of Kahula, a package of Oreos, the remainder of my old Prozac prescription, the rest of the cheesecake, some Doritos, and a box of chocolates.

You have no idea how freaking good I feel right now.

Thanks to Nancy for bringing that to my attention!

Quote for the Day

“Just living is not enough…One must have sunshine, freedom, and a little flower.”

~Hans Christian Anderson

…actually got here with warp speed this week.

Taught, trained, and tested the new hires at work and I always love that part of my job. Had a problem with one of them, but believe in her and need to give her a chance. If she lets me down, I will be very surprised and very disappointed.

Everyone needs a chance sometime to prove what they are capable of.

The weather here is to die for. Sunny skies that give just enough warmth without being sticky. Slight breeze that lets you decide on short sleeves or long depending on your tolerance. Pretty enough to make you want to hop in your vehicle with the music blaring and take off. No destination in mind. No place you HAVE to be. No one you HAVE to see. Nothing you HAVE to do. No one you HAVE to talk to. Just you, the music, and the road.

Have been in the craziest mood lately! Spring fever, maybe?

May have something to do with this wonderful weather and the fact that I got my dreaded taxes done.

Lisa Kleypas was at Waldenbooks last night and she is one fun, talented, classy lady. I have been friends with her for several years now and we talked, laughed, and had a ball catching up. She is the keynote speaker at RWA Nationals in Dallas this year and I had to promise her I would be there.

Between having the taxes done and finished, visiting last night with Lisa Kleypas and then my good friend Dennie, and hearing Candace Havens, the dynamic speaker Yellow Rose had last month, I am so motivated and itching to get back to my writing! Candace’s schedule makes me feel like a slug by comparison!

Also want to congratulate all the Samhain authors for Samhain Publishing achieving RWA recognized status this week. Way to go, Ladies!!!

Any special plans for the weekend?

Quote for the Day

“You can’t depend on your eyes when your imagination is out of focus.”

~Mark Twain

…when you try to print something and you accidently choose the printer that is STILL installed on your computer but no longer have access to?

Answer: The computer becomes possessed and you become a stark raving lunatic!

Why?

Because the computer puts the print job in the print queue.

Which ties up 99% of your CPU processor.

Which slows the computer down to a crawl.

And no matter what you do, it holds the frickin’ print job hostage demanding to be connected to unavailable printer.

Tried deleting print job.

Tried cancelling print job.

Tried deleting printer.

Tried cancelling printer.

Tried deleting computer.

Computer tried to delete me.

After banging my head on the desk and a few not-so-ladylike words, I toted hard drive, monitor, keyboard, and mouse back across town to said printer thinking I would appease the technological demon and all would be well.

Not.

The only way to outwit it was to uninstall the printer. Picture an evil smirk here. Picture me Queen and I kick butt.

Not.

I uninstalled the printer and in the process it uninstalled the printer I use at home and now that printer cannot be re-installed for some stoopid reason.

Tried installing it from the disk.

Tried installing it from the manufacture’s website.

Picture evil smirk from computer.

Picture me Queen Printerless.

Do they do exorcisms on computers?

Quote for the Day

“There are no rules of architecture for a castle in the clouds.”

~Gilbert K. Chesterton

I love that phrase.

I get images of turrets and towers, strong hunky knights and feisty beautiful heroines. I see possibilities of dreams and visions, of romance and happiness and hope.

Could it be because I am romantic at heart or because I am a romance writer?

I write because I love words. I love they way they sound. I love the way they look. I love the way they can make something come alive and make it real.

Sometimes I can hear or read a phrase, sometimes only a word, or even just a name on the credits after a movie and a full blown visual takes shape in my mind.

Music also inspires me in so many ways. And if it happens to be a phrase or a word in a song that speaks to me – all the better – I am off and running.

Now before you clap your hands in glee and think how wonderful I am, I believe it is true for most writers. The avenue may be different, but the results are the same.

I know a writer who concocted a whole story after noticing a hitchhiker on the side of the road. Poor innocent man never realized she turned him into a serial killer that terrorized a small town suffering a deep winter freeze. I’m sure, in truth, he was just a nice guy needing a ride somewhere.

A published author friend of mine took her good friend’s name (we won’t mention any names, but think your’s truly here ) and wrote a whole story around it.

Another published author friend of mine took the idea of a girl, a hit man, and a time machine and turned it first into weekly serial and then into a novel.

Many a novel, many a screenplay, many a song was birthed by such an inspiration, growing into a full blown form of entertainment.

On a personal front, I got to visit the grandtwins this last weekend making a fast trip to my hometown to celebrate their birthday. So hard to believe they are now four years old. They are not babies any longer which makes me sad. This was the first year my son and daughter in law decided to have their party at Chuck E Cheese. Probably will be their last. Gaw, I can only hope.

Think huge rat.
Think huge rat with buck teeth.
Think huge rat with buck teeth that dances and sings.
Think huge rat with buck teeth that dances and sings amidst wall to wall kids.
Think huge rat with buck teeth that dances and sings amidst wall to wall kids that break the sound barrier.
Think we won’t do THAT again.
