‘To experience burnout as a writer, you must first be on fire.’
~Paul Raymond Martin

Today is our RWA chapter meeting and we are celebrating our fifth anniversary. There is such a feel of accomplishment and joy as I was there for the very first meeting in 2001 and have been priveledged to see it grow and become successful. We have a fantastic group of women. There is a wonderful comaradarie, celebrating each other’s successes and to cry over the rejections. Each one of us encourage, push, hope, listen, and generally kick butt to help the others with their writing career.

The founder of our group has flown in from out of state to celebrate with us so today couldn’t be more perfect.

And we have cake!

How fun! I don’t get to my chapter meetings very often. They are on Saturdays and they run all day. I usually have kids’ sports on Saturdays. Or the day that I can go they are having a speaker I have no interest in. We are a big group so it isn’t like going to an intimate gathering and chatting with friends, its more like a conference.

And what could be better than cake?

Rene: I know what you mean by Saturday sports. We raised four boys and all played baseball and two of them played football. But they are only little for so long and then, the funny thing is, you miss it!

Devon and Dennie: Cake IS good! Yum! One of my weaknesses.

Cake! Everybody loves cake!

It was a terrific meeting. But we’re more than just chapter members – we’re friends. I love that about our little group. 🙂
