“Do not dwell in the past, do not dream of the future, concentrate the mind on the present moment.”

~Buddha

…for 2007!

Buddha may have something with this quote. But not everything I agree with.

I’ve learned not to dwell in the past as it doesn’t do anything but cause harm both mentally and emotionally. But there is nothing wrong with taking certain moments of it, dusting it off, and reliving it. The cherished, fun, happy moments not only give you that warm, fuzzy feeling as you walk down memory lane, but plants seeds of well being. Even the sad, difficult, and trying memories of the past shows how far you have come, what you have accomplished and that you actually have the fortitude to make it even further. Even though you don’t think you can.

I believe in dreams. Dreams of the future are crucial to present.

But, right now, TODAY, go make your memories, dream a little of the future, but don’t forget to enjoy the day as it is the only Thanksgiving 2007 we will be allowed.

Off to friends to enjoy turkey and dressing…mashed potatoes…pumpkin pie…key lime pie…lemon meringue pie…

Happy Thanksgiving!

Well, I’m back from visiting with my brother’s family and then dinner with the step family. Two memeber were a little tense since they had had a dispute 2 years ago. Ah, family. I must confess, it was me that started the food fight. Things were just too polite, so I picked up a dinner roll that had been over cooked and had the consistency of a stone and threw it at one of my step sisters. Her face was priceless. Then the fight was on. The kids just sat there with their mouths open while the “adults” tossed rolls at each other. It did break the ice. Everybody was much more relaxed. They were a bit stunned that I started it, since I am always the quiet one.

Just a warning before I’m invited for a rib dinner again.
