‘Take a chance! All life is a chance. The man who goes the furthest is generally the one who is willing to do and dare.’
~Dale Carnegie

Hard to believe it has been about ten days since I blogged last! Having blogging withdrawls!

But we had our chapter conference luncheon last weekend and it was a flurry of airport runs, entertaining the guests, ferrying them around, the night before dinner, and the aftermath of wrapping up a contest and conference.

Kerrelyn Sparks and Colleen Thompson were the nicest, sweetest people I have met. Have read Kerrelyn’s How to Marry a Millionaire Vampire and now working on reading her sequel Vamps in the City. Both are great and her touches of humor in them are priceless. Alicia Rasley was a fantastic workshop leader. And Editor, Allison Lyons from Harlequin, was absolutely one of the most fun and down to earth person I have ever met!

When I picked Allison up from the airport, we had just enough time to go see some sights before getting ready for the Friday night get together. I decided to run down to the Stockyards as that is part of our city’s history and thought she might be interested in seeing it. And she was.

I turned left instead of right and ended up in a not so good part of town with blocks and blocks of used car dealerships. I mentioned that I didn’t remember those being on the way and she said she thought we had ended up in New Jersey, her old hometown! We laughed and laughed. After three phone calls to DH, we ended up where we were supposed to be and she enjoyed walking around and getting the ‘flavor’ of the place (her words). But, unfortuately, all the cowboys had gone and the cattle drive was over.

Saturday night, we took her back to the stockyards and to the White Elephant Saloon to get a taste of a smoky country and western bar. Not sure she enjoyed the music but Cece, Dennie, and I did.

Now that I am just about getting caught up and the finishing touches on the contest, I am anxious to get back to writing!

Lost was great tonight! Invasion is good also. It’s like the writers of the shows are catching the hint and getting on the ball.

Sounds like you had a good time. The “mis-turn” is something I would do.:dunno:

It sounds like fun. I have a GPS in my car. I actually have perfect direction. You can put me in a town I’ve never been to without a map and I can get you to a mall. I’m not kidding. I have mall-sense. My dh is totally lame hence the GPS. I do like it because if I need a Starbucks, I just punch in the name and it will find the closest one.

Cece Says:

Lost rocked! I sorta gave up on Invasion though (traded that for Alias!)……The one I want back is Surface!

Sounds like a good trip.

Michele sent me over to say welcome back to the land of blogging. 😉

Sandy Says:

Dennie: I second that!

Eve: Good to know I am not the only directionally challenged one.

Rene: Hmmm….I need a GPS system also. I can just program Starbucks and be done with it. I guess a Starbucks at a mall is even better.

Cece: OMG! I loved it. That rotten Michael. And why didn’t Mr. Ecko and Locke look at the tapes to see who shot who(m). I would’ve. I thought it was a cool twist to have Locke dream about Mr. Ecko and his brother making you think it was Ecko dreaming.

You’re the first person in blogdom that has mentioned Invasion…I like that show alot! I noticed you mentioned vampire books…have you read the Dead series by Charlaine Harris?

Sandy Says:

Janet: LOVE Invasion! And it is getting really good! The writers have stepped it up a notch! And I read the first Charlaine Harris book and I have the second one in my TBR file.

Sandy Says:

Janet: Love the way you can pick skins on your blog. Pretty original!

Janet Says:

The first time I saw a Charlaine Harris book was at Barnes & Noble, in hard cover…and I noticed it cause it had a sparkly vampire on it LOL! Picked it up and fell in love.

Thanks for the compliments on the skins! Someone who used to be a friend designed them for me, from my original ideas. So no more skins for me, but I think I have enough 🙂

Sandy Says:

Janet: You can never be too rich, too thin, or have to many skins, LOL! Those are so cool!
