‘Devote less energy to finding your niche and more energy to creating it’
~Paul Martin Raymond

wasn’t bad at all Wednesday!

My blog was Site Of The Day (SOTD) at All About Michelle which is a really fun site to participate in her daily games. Thanks, Michelle! Made a lot of new friends.

Things are still looking good for me regarding something special and hope to share soon. Still keep those fingers crossed for me, though!!!

Having Starbucks with a good friend tomorrow morning at 7:45 am. :lovecoffee: Haven’t seen her in forever and we put it on our calendars and, by gosh, going to go for it.

Short blog today. Going to get some writing in tonight. But first, look at Mik’s new cover for a short story she sold to Inara Press. It totally rocks! Congrats, Mik! Nothing makes me more proud when my close friends succeed at something they work so hard at. Right, Mik? Right, Dennie? Both called me tonight with some fantastic news. :hiding:

‘To change one’s life, start immediately, do it flamboyantly, no exceptions.’
~William James

I have a new name!

Not because I got a wild hair or had nothing else to do or was avoiding writing (honestly…really!), but because I came to the major conclusion that the old name didn’t emcompass everything I wrote or who I was.

I’ve never mentioned before, but I am also working on a sweet romance and a children’s inspirational series that has been in the makings for several years. And for the past few weeks, three people have asked me why I have such a dark blog with paranormal elements only if I plan to be published in multi genres. If one person asks, it is one thing, but when three different people mention it then means you need to take a wee bit closer look at the situation.

After thinking about it, I decided they were right. If my children’s series become published, or even my sweet romance does, then I wouldn’t want to offend anyone, parent or otherwise, with such a dark blog. And I started feeling uncomfortable with it.

So, hence the name change. It’s a start. And I will be working on a new blog and website look as time permits.

If you have my Magick Musings listed on your blogroll/website, I hope you don’t mind changing the name for me. No biggee if you can’t or don’t want to.

I was proud of myself figuring out how to change the header all by myself except for one little question (that ended up with other questions, but they don’t count) to Mik about how to load it again. I have such a short memory span. 🙄

On the writing front…

Spit out a page today. :page:

Keep your fingers crossed for me this week. Something that might turn our really good just might happen for me!

‘Show truth as if your character had just discovered it. Show emotion as if your character had just invented it.’
~Paul Raymond Martin

…that when you dream of having a long weekend you have all these neat plans. Things you would do if you had the time off to do it.

…Write.
…Clean out the cabinets.
…Take a little trip that has nothing to do with business.
…Write.
…Do a little scrapbooking.
…Make those phone calls to those family members and friends you love so dearly and haven’t spoken to in forever.
…Write.
…Bake or cook things that can be frozen and used when a quick meal is needed. (‘Course is there any other kind, LOL)
…Get the yard like you want it.
…Clean out the attic.
…Write.

But, in truth, end up doing much of nothing. And it actually felt good.

Went out to eat with dh, just he and I, no sons allowed. Had long talks with him throughout the weekend making plans for short term goals and long term goals. Future vacation plans. Reinforced our relationship as so much of life gets in the way and we both realized that there are days we are in the same house together, but both going in different directions with different problems, living different lives, having different thoughts and worries and barely really, truly, ‘communicating’ with each other.

So it was good.

I guess most of us work better under pressure but when we finally get a time to rest, rest is exactly what we needed. And I’m trying very, very hard not to feel guilty about this weekend.

But the weekend is over now so back to work. :whip:

‘Light tomorrow with today.’
~Elizabeth Barrett Browning

Hope all of you have a wonderful Memorial Day by enjoying the freedom that so many died that we may be free!

Happy Birthday, Mik!

A little joke here to start the weekend because laughter is good for the soul.

On a tour of the facilities, the CEO noticed a guy leaning on a wall. The room was full of workers and he wanted to let them know that he meant business!

The new CEO walked up to the guy leaning against the wall and asked, “How much money do you make a week?”

A little surprised, the young fellow looked at him and replied, “I make $300 a week. Why?”

The CEO then handed the guy $1,200 in cash and screamed, “Here’s four weeks’ pay, now GET OUT and don’t come back.”

Feeling pretty good about himself, the CEO looked around the room and asked, “Does anyone want to tell me what that goof-off did here?”

From across the room came a voice, “Pizza delivery guy from Domino’s.”

‘Well-written dialogue is efficient stuff: It reveals character, lends realism, and advances plot.’
~Paul Martin Raymond

Lost and American Idol rocked!

I am so glad Taylor Hicks won! Katherine McPhee is beautiful, extremely talented and her career as a performer/singer/artist is a shoo in. But I wanted Taylor to win. And it seemed to be the consensus at my house and the office I worked at yesterday.

My favorite part was when the Clay Aiken wannabe almost had a meltdown when Clay walked on stage and surprised him. Very funny stuff! I could almost hear the wheels turning in Clay’s mind: “Was I ever REALLY like that?’

Naw. He had a little more class than that!

And when the hyper idiot ran out on stage to get his trophy and fell into the audience!!! :rotfl:

It was hard running back and forth between the two rooms watching both. We taped it on our DVR in the big den and on a VCR in the smaller den off the kitchen. But Lost won out over me actually sitting and watching.

Oh. My. Gosh!

Not going to spoil the ending for those who taped it and couldn’t watch it last night ( Sandy S!) but I am now hooked for next season. PLEASE let there be another season!

Gotta run. Doing check offs today at work and really like doing those. Keep your fingers crossed for me for something that will happen tomorrow. Can’t say anything else at this moment. Don’t want to jinx it.

Have a good day before Memorial Day weekend starts!

‘In everday life, we dull the edges of our conversations. In writing, we hone the edge.’
~Paul Martin Raymond

Invasion was over last week.
House is over tonight.
American Idol will announce the winner tomorrow.
Lost will have it’s season finale tomorrow night.

I will be free! And I promise not to watch TV over the summer.

But I have been writing. I swear I have not been slacking off. In fact, every free moment as been spent working on my WIP. Haven’t blogged. Haven’t been reading. Haven’t spent any time with the family.

But I did get caught up on this year’s taxes. 😳 I promised myself I would not wait until the end of the year to start on them as I have done in the last few years so now it is all organized and on an Excel spreadsheet.

Go, Sandy!

‘Today is the first day of the rest of your life.’

Going to be lazy this weekend about blogging. Have to write, have to write, have to write.

Thought you might enjoy these pictures, but don’t miss the last one. Makes having a rough day at work take on a new meaning!

‘Every writer spends a lifetime as a writer-in-training.’
~Paul Raymond Martin

Maxine. Always tells it like it is.

Woke this morning with a renewed enthusiasm. For my writing, my day job, my life in general. Even though I might hit a rough spot or two in my life, if I have a plan, I can handle anything. Also, if my writing, my work, my life is organized and caught up, I am then a force to be reckoned with.

But let me get behind or disorganized and I am another type of force to be reckoned with. And it ain’t pretty. 👿

And right now, I have a plan.

Details to follow. Soon.

Have a great Tuesday!

Can’t take the credit for these, but they are a hoot!
