“The best proof of love is trust.”

~Joyce Brothers

Tried to recreate what I wrote this morning, but that was earlier and a million things have happened since.

An old friend called me up last night and we talked for nearly two hours catching up. She is my rock and has been for over 20 years. Everyone needs a friend like that.

Another good friend emailed me wanting to know if I wanted to attend a concert locally the end of September. Haven’t been to a concert in forever. So if she can get the tickets I may go with her and two other girls from the same group. We always have fun together.

Another friend has Loreena McKennitt tickets in October and if her boyfriend bows out then I get to go. But, if I were him, I reallllly wouldn’t do that. If he does – can you say Dead Meat?

I am truly blessed to have the friends that I do. The best kind of friend is one that you can tell anything to and they listen, do not judge, and still love you. And have the best time when together.

Got a Jury Duty Summons this week! I would really like to blame it on Brenda since I recently mentioned that I have never received one before and she threatened to turn my name in, but I know it doesn’t work that way.

Or at least I don’t think it does. :doze:

Brenda? Did you?

If you did…one word to you…MySpace. 😈

Sorry! Will have to try and recreate it tonight.

“A woman knows the face of the man she loves as a sailor knows the open sea.”

~Honore de Balzac

…or ‘in’ I should say.

Several of my girlfriends came over last night and we spent the night as only girlfriends can. Talking, drinking, eating, and laughing ourselves silly.

They can be bad…so bad!

But we behaved. Sort of.

Didn’t let Dennie book the stripper and no matter how many times MY computer visited the Le Bare website, it wasn’t me doing it. I swear!

But Brenda-who-refused-to-be-the-designated-driver-and-take-us-to-Dallas, your punishment for leaving early is to spend this next week scouring the internet trying to find your ‘MySpace’ website we created for you after you left. 😈

Not really, but we thought long and hard about it. We gave you reprieve. This time.

After the last friend left and I straightened up the house, it was 2:00 am. I laid in bed thinking about how blessed I was to have love, friends, and the opportunities I have. Undoubtedly, it has been tough lately, but I love Mik’s favorite saying:

“In the end it will be okay. If it is not okay, then it is not the end.”

Did my walking this morning and have an appointment late this evening at my favorite place I buy my makeup to have a ‘makeover’. Might be fun. I could learn a new trick or two. And it is free! But the bad thing is that I have to take off all my makeup before I get there. Gasp! Hope I don’t run into anyone I know.

But right now, have tons of deskwork to do!

Have a great Sunday!

Sooo looking forward to Monday.

“Fortune and love favor the brave.”

~Ovid

Song of the Day

I Love How You Love Me

I love how your heart beats whenever I hold you
I love how you think of me without being told to
I love the way your touch is always heavenly
But, darling, most of all I love how you love me

sung by Sandy Posey

…waaayyy too soon.

Woke up this morning at 3:30 am with my mouth throbbing horribly. It took me a hazy minute or two to figure out what in the world could be wrong until it flashed back to me. Stumbled to the Advil and two tabs later felt pretty good. But took me an hour to get back to sleep.

Tonight I decided was a good day to start my walking again.

Grabbed my walking shoes, my iPod and took off. Since it was too windy to leave bread crumbs, I thought of bringing a map (I am so directionally challenged), but decided to live dangerously.

It turned out to be the best thing I could have done. Since I have no one to walk with now, I turned up the music, which works wonders on soothing the savage soul. Mix that and the beautiful sunny weather with a slight breeze that was gentle enough to just caress… I could have walked for hours. Found my way home just fine before dark.

It has been a very emotional week both at work and on the personal front and the endorphins kicking in was just what I needed to uplift my spirits.

Since I am just rambling tonight, I will leave off with a joke. Everyone who knows me knows how much I love to laugh and I choked on my diet coke I was laughing so hard at this one.

Thanks to Kathy B. for sending this:

Wal-Mart Greeter

A very loud, unattractive, mean-acting woman walked into Wal-Mart with her two kids, yelling obscenities at them all the way through the entrance.

The Wal-Mart Greeter said pleasantly ‘Good morning, and welcome to Wal-Mart. Nice children you have there. Are they twins?’

The ugly woman stopped yelling long enough to say, ‘Hell no they ain’t. The oldest one’s 9 and the other one’s 7. Why the hell would you think they’re twins? Are you blind, or just stupid?’

‘I’m neither blind nor stupid, Ma’am,’ replied the greeter. ‘I just couldn’t believe you got laid twice.’

‘Have a good day and thank you for shopping at Wal-Mart.’

“You can turn painful situations around through laughter. If you can find humor in anything, even poverty, you can survive it.”

~Bill Cosby

…purple, swollen, and drools?

My mouth after my root canal.

Get your mind out of the gutter. 😈

It was actually no big deal. Even when the dentist hadn’t deadened the tooth quite completely and had to stop everything to re-inject my mouth. And even when the nitrous oxide tank went completely empty in the middle of the procedure.

Hellooo! The only reason I agreed to this was the nitrous oxide. Not that I am a wimp or anything. But if there is a choice between:

a) pain accompanied with anxiety or
b) no pain with a tiny bit of feel good magic available

I pick the latter.

I tried getting the point across with my mouth full of instruments and hands but it wasn’t until I closed my mouth and refused to open it that they got the point.

Tank was switched and Jimmy Buffett on the iPod and I were back in business.

Tonight I finish a project for work and then I finally will force myself to drag out my WIP’s and figure out what to do next.

“The night is like a dagger ~ long and cold and sharp. “

~Smoke Rings in the Dark by Gary Allen

…is so cool.

Last Christmas, I had gifted my two youngest sons with iPod Nanos. My youngest son took to it right away but the middle son wasn’t as interested as he was leaving town and couldn’t take it with him. So I asked him if I could ‘borrow’ it while he was gone.

It took me six months or so to get it up and running, but once I did…I loved it! I loaded all my favorite songs and would even play it in the car with my earphones.

The other day Best Buy sent me a $50.00 gift certificate and I ran out and bought the car charger/player for it and it totally rocks!!!! I can now play all my 600+ songs on my car stereo speakers while it charges the iPod at the same time. And best of all, it only cost me $25.00 out of pocket. I so love a deal!

Work today was one meeting after another. Literally. With a non-scheduled meeting at 5:00 to discuss what happened at the first meeting. Sheesh! How does one actually get any work done??

Not much else to say except have a root canal scheduled tomorrow. :help: Will have to bring my iPod and earphones to drown out the drill.

Hmmm…

Get off work early.
Nitrous oxide.
Music.

Might actually be worth it.

“Patience is the companion of wisdom. “

~Saint Augustine

…Garden Ridge department store. Brenda and I decided we needed a trip to the place most men would rather have their privates caught in their zippers before stepping into what they call the ‘store from hell’. As we perused the aisles of household delights, we ended up in their huge section of silk trees. Don’t laugh ~ they don’t shed their leaves, you never have to spend money on fertilizer, and some cost as much as designer shoes.

The trees are lined up like linebackers on a football field and their top heavy branches hang out on both sides of the aisle forming a very narrow path to which you can barely push the basket through. As we made our way into the jungle, the basket caught on one of the bigger trees branches and ~ I kid you not ~ it toppled over onto the tree next to it, causing a domino effect which knocked over six or seven of the trees.

I swear I saw it all in ultra slow motion. I lunged past the basket and tried to grab the nearest one that was falling, while the words “nooooooooooo” escaped my horrified lips in a very undignified, dramatic manner that was probably heard on the freeway. Brenda just stood there and yelled ‘Timmmmberrrrr!”

Gaw! I can’t take that woman anywhere!

now picture this…

…Chili’s restaurant. Dennie and I had a lunch date where we were going to plot her new book. After having consumed two diet cokes and one water with lemon, I made my way to the little girl’s room. Of course, I picked the stall that the lock was acting funny, but, in my hurry, got it locked and went about my way.

Finishing up, I tried to unlock the lock and it would not budge! I pushed to the left and pushed to the right but nada…zip! I stood there a moment thinking. I tried again – nothing. Wouldn’t budge.

I was alone in the restroom. I was not going to yell for help.

I mentally listed my options. The thought of lying on a public restroom floor to scoot UNDER was ruled out as an option quickly. Very quickly! Ewww! The was only one other thing to do. I gingerly stepped one foot on the toliet then the other. Grabbing the top of the stall wall, I managed to pull myself up and over and just as I was hanging on the outside wall of the stall, an employee walked in.

I am sure the looks I got from the waitstaff after that didn’t mean anything. Much.

“Every tomorrow has two handles. We can take hold of it with the handle of anxiety or the handle of faith. “

~Henry Ward Beecher

…the days can be so long!

Did the house cleaning today and decided to finally put some boxes up in the attic that had been sitting in the garage for several months. I trucked up the ladder with my trusty, tiny flashlight in hand (actually my mouth as both hands were full) and got about a third of them up there when I noticed that I was very careful about not hitting my head on the light bulb.

Light bulb?

Could that possibly mean there was actually a light fixture up there that is connected to a switch somewhere? And that the switch would turn the bulb on and light up the attic so I wouldn’t have to carry the flashlight up and down with me?

Gaw! But in my defense it was the first time I had been up there since I moved in seven months ago.

Ran out for a few minutes to friend Mik’s house to attend her Sweetie Boy’s sixth birthday. Stayed only a few minutes and rushed back home to wait for something that never came.

Maybe tomorrow.

I really like the quote I picked for this blog entry.

Tonight, as I lay in bed listening to music, I am trying to hold on to the handle of faith for tomorrow and not the handle of anxiety. I just never knew that emotional pain could hurt so bad physically. But I know it is totally up to me as to which handle I choose and this choice will shape my day tomorrow and the days to follow.

How ’bout you? When life is tough and painful, which handle do you reach for?

Quote for the Day

“It is not the length of life, but the depth of life. “

~Ralph Waldo Emerson

…it was worth it!

so what if I am so far behind in my reading, writing, blogging…

…I needed it!

I have had many, many changes in my life this year. Sad things, happy things, bad things, good things, great things, not so great things. But I am discovering I am really and truly – for the first time in my life – finding out who Sandy is and what she needs and wants in life. Spending so many years making other people happy is a good thing, an honorable thing. But I have found you can slowly dry up and slowly lose your self until you barely exist. Your world becomes solely the worlds of others and before you realize it, your world ceases to exist.

Soooo… (buttons on your underwear ~ sorry, private joke, LOL) I start the new season with one thing that is a must in my world…

laughter!

Thanks Nancy for sending me this…

POWER OUTAGE DURING A MAMMOGRAM

I actually kept my mammogram appointment. I was met with, “Hi! I’m

Belinda!” This perky clipboard carrier smiled from ear to ear, tilted

her head to one side and crooned, “All I need you to do is step into

this room right hereee, strip to the waist, thennn slip on this gown.

Everything clearrrr?

I’m thinking, “Belinda, try decaf. This ain’t rocket science.”

Belinda skipped away to prepare the chamber of horrors. With the

right side finished, Belinda flipped me (literally) to the left and

said, “Hmmmm. Can you stand on your tippy toes and lean in a tad so

we can get everything?’

Fine, I answered. I was freezing, bruised, and out of air, so why

not use the remaining circulation in my legs and neck and finish me

off?

My body was in a holding pattern that defied gravity (with my other

boob wedged between those two 4 inch pieces of square glass) when we

heard, then felt a zap! Complete darkness and the power went off!

“Oh, maintenance is working. Bet they hit a snag.” Belinda headed

for the door.

“Excuse me! You’re not leaving me in this vise alone are you?” I

shouted.

Belinda kept going and said, “Oh, you fussy puppy… the door’s wide

open so you’ll have the emergency hall lights. I’ll be rightttt

backkk.”

Before I could shout “NOOOO!” she disappeared. And that’s exactly

how Bubba and Earl, maintenance men extraordinaire, found me,

half-naked and part of me dangling from the Jaws of Life and the other

part smashed between glass!

After exchanging polite “Hi, how’s it going” type greetings, Bubba

(or possibly Earl) asked, to my utter disbelief, if I knew the power

was off.

Trying to disguise my hysteria, I replied with as much calmness as

possible “Uh, yes, yes I did thanks.”

“You bet, take care” Bubba replied and waved good-bye as though I’d

been standing in the line at the grocery store.

Two hours later, Belinda breezes in wearing a sheepish grin and

making no attempt to suppress her amusement, she said, “Oh I am sooo

sorry!” The power came back on and I totally forgot about you! And

silly me, I went to lunch. Are we upset?”

And that, Your Honor, is exactly how her head ended up between the

clamps…

Quote for the Day

“Time is what we want most, but what we use worst. “

~William Penn

…seems forever since I blogged last. Can not believe summer will be here in a few weeks. Already the grass is needing to be mowed weekly.

Life and work is busy, but good. Writing has taken a back seat in my life, but plans in the making to get back to it regularly.

I know, I know…promises, promises. But this time for real. Watch and see.

Sometimes it is good to take a sabatical and work on other aspects of your life. I keep saying timing is everything. Doesn’t mean I haven’t been doing things though.

Research ya’ know. 😎

Went to the Scarboroough Affair Renaissance Festival on Mother’s Day weekend. I have longed to do that for years and finally had the opportunity. It was a hoot.

I tasted Honeyed Mead which was wine made with…you guessed it…HONEY. Found it a little too strong for the warm day, and, since I hadn’t eaten anything yet that morning and wasn’t fond of the idea of being carried out over someone’s shoulders, I ended up drinking something called Pear Cider which was very mild and very good.

It was fascinating to see so many people getting into the spirit of the festival. The clothes, the food, the drink, the craft…even the language. You can’t imagine how many ‘Good day mi’lady’ I heard.

So cool. Until it started raining. Got my butt wet and mud all over me AND the vehicle.

Went to the movies and saw Georgia Rule. Loved it! Great characters!

Memorial Day was full by cooking steaks, learning how to make carmelized onions and mushrooms (yum!). Discovered Blue Bell chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream (double yum!). Rented six movies from blockbuster (hey, it is a holiday and can do what I want) and made a pot of chicken, sausage, and okra gumbo to eat during the work week.

I find that the longer I put the writing off, the easier it is not to get back to it. I know that I have to get back to it NO MATTER WHAT.

It is just so hard with so much going on right now. Need to find the motivation and inspiration to get back to it.

Any ideas on how to do that?
